Caffeine and Cellulite
Stubborn Lumps of Ugliness
Cellulite are unsightly disfigurations seen on the skin surface whose very nature remains a mystery to this day. It is a mystery that has been plaguing many a scientist, causing innumerable debate among doctors and large profits for cosmetologists. Why can skinny women as much as fat women have it? And why are men excused from this curse? These and more questions of such remain unanswered?
Like any other issue, rumours about cellulite abound. One of this is the theory that cellulite is fat. The muscle and the skin have anchoring fibers in between. Cellulite are fat cells that push themselves in between these fibers and against the skin creating a lumpy, bumpy appearance. To others, it is fluid congestions caused by poor microcirculation and permeable lymphatic wall and blood vessels. There are other notions about Cellulite’s nature that include trapped toxins, skin aging and sun damage, and combinations of any said statements.
Startling Cellulite Silly
Caffeine is as notorious as it is beloved as a stimulant. Despite its supposed horrid side effects: numerous heart ailments, agitation and strange accounts of psychosis, coffee-lovers increase in time and in the advent of coffee shops, they keep younger and younger each year.
Caffeine works as an active Cellulite treatment by supposedly tightening the blood vessels giving the skin a slightly smoother appearance. It seemingly is a safer, natural-sounding alternative to the drugs Aminophylline and Theophylline, both prescribed bronchodilators that are used in some cellulite treatments. The effectiveness of said drugs as active ingredients in Cellulite creams has never been truly confirmed.
Only two studies have been made to find Caffeine’s effect on Cellulite, one of them is a company that sell “caffeinated” Cellulite Creams, the other, a company marketing anti-Caffeine Cellulite Ingredients. No any other independent research, especially one that has no profitable ambitions, has attempted to prove the benefits and results of using Caffeine against Cellulite.
Despite this lack of scientific evidence, companies are still able to market such Caffeinated Cellulite creams as a cheaper alternative to a more costly treatment, Endermologie, whose results yet significant are still short-term.
Not Another Kitchen Beauty Remedy
Many home-made, natural beauty treatments have been debunked and eventually certified. It would still be downright preposterous to apply ground coffee on one’s thighs and legs in the hopes of eliminating those hideous monstrosities. If Caffeine is indeed effective against this Cellulite, shouldn’t internal consumption be more efficient? If so, with the vast numbers of coffee, tea and cola addicts, the world will not be obsessing anymore about Cellulite.
Despite any of its health claims, there is more empirical evidence of its damaging effects than good. Besides, the difficult dealings with addiction and early morning lethargy are issues enough, let’s not add Cellulite to the Caffeine issue any more.
